Planting Seeds That Shape Your Future

”God will produce a harvest in due season for those who persevere and sow rightly”

—Mark Jobe

THIS WEEK’S BOLD STEP DEVOTION

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
(Galatians 6:7 )

Every farmer knows this simple but powerful truth: you can’t plant corn in the spring and expect to harvest wheat in the fall. The harvest is always determined by the seed you plant. In many ways, that same principle applies to our lives, as the Apostle Paul reminds us in Galatians 6. Whether you find yourself in a season of joy, struggle, or waiting, it is often the result of the seeds you’ve sown in the past.

Every choice we make is like a seed that will eventually push up through the soil of our lives. Spiritually, emotionally, and relationally- what you sow today will shape the harvest you experience tomorrow. If you sow seeds of bitterness or compromise, those thorns will choke out the good, but if you sow seeds of prayer, worship, and obedience, you’ll see strength, peace, and joy take root.

So here’s the question: what kind of seeds are you planting right now? If you’re longing for change, the answer isn’t simply waiting for a “better season.” Change begins the moment you start planting new seeds. The good news is that it’s never too late to change your harvest. If you don’t like the fruit you’ve been reaping such as emptiness, brokenness, or regret, then start replanting. Sow generosity instead of greed. Sow forgiveness instead of resentment. Sow faithfulness instead of compromise. And in God’s timing, you will reap a harvest of blessing, just as He has promised to those who walk in step with His Spirit.

Bold Steps Challenge:
Take five minutes today to honestly evaluate the seeds you’ve been sowing in your relationships, habits, and spiritual walk. Identify one area where you need to stop sowing to the flesh and begin sowing to the Spirit. Then take a bold step this week to plant a better seed.

Closing Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for reminding me that my life is shaped by the seeds I plant. Forgive me for the times I’ve sown to the flesh and reaped pain and regret. Today, I ask for Your strength to sow to the Spirit and plants seeds of faith, love, and forgiveness. May my life bear fruit that brings You glory! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
