2/24/2021 Update

As frequent visitors to this website are aware, WJSO (90.1 FM) has been off the air most of 2020 following severe damage on April 13, 2020 from heavy winds that toppled the upper most section of its 170-foot tall guyed tower, thereby knocking the station off-air.

Because the cost to repair the tower is prohibitive, over these past months we have been working to get the station back on the air by making arrangements to lease space on another local tower. We are pleased to announce that we plan to be back on the air at a nearby location as soon as possible—and that on 02/24/2021, the Federal Communications Commision (FCC) has granted Moody Radio a construction permit to use this new location! This is a significant milestone, and an answer to many prayers!

WJSO and Moody Radio are dependent on the faithful prayer and financial support of our listeners. That’s why we are so grateful for friends like you who have been so generous in your support, even during these tough months of being off the air. Thank you!

The cost to return the station to the air will be approximately $50,000. This will cover new transmission line, antenna, and installation. If you’re able to help us cover some of those costs, we’d be honored to receive your gift. With the financial support of you and others, we can soon return the full schedule of Moody Radio’s teaching, talk, and music programming to the ears of thousands of local radio listeners in Pikeville and the surrounding area!

We know you miss Moody Radio, and we are anxious to get back on the air—filling the radio waves with the rich and varied content that has blessed you in the past. Thank you for your patience, prayers, and support!

If you’d like to help, you can send a gift of support to WJSO by simply going online to You can also mail your WJSO gift to Moody Radio, 820 North LaSalle Blvd. Chicago, IL 60610.
