Our society declares that a self-focused, uber-comfortable, and vacation-minded retirement is what we want. What could possibly go wrong with double the free time and less structure in your life? The retirement lie says that a successful retirement is an endless vacation based on financial security, but this way of thinking is a down payment toward purposelessness and disappointment. On Tuesday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Alex Lippert joins us to talk about a new book he has co-authored with Joel Malick called Afterwork, an honest discussion about the “retirement lie” and a guide to living a future worthy of God’s plan for you.
Hour 2: The Rise of Non-Worshipping Evangelicals - with Daniel Darling
According to a recent survey, 40 million people have stopped going to church in the last 25 years. There is much to regret when we think about the decline in church attendance, because it has and will continue to have so much impact on how we live and with the social services that churches provide. Monday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, author and pastor Daniel Darling tells us that the large number of people not attending church is cause for lament but also a catalyst for action. Maybe it’s time to stop passing by the mission fields in front of us. Perhaps it’s time to invite our neighbor to church.

Alex Lippert
Alex has over a decade of wealth management and financial planning experience. After years of seeing many financially successful clients struggle in retirement from a non-financial perspective, he wished to explore the intangibles behind what makes retirement “successful”. Alex enjoys cooking for family and friends, fly fishing, trail running, and is a beekeeper. He and his wife love adventuring with their daughter and rescue pup.
Daniel Darling
Daniel Darling is an author, pastor, and leader. He was recently appointed as the director of the Land Center for Cultural Engagement at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dan is a bestselling author of several books, including The Original Jesus, The Dignity Revolution, The Characters of Christmas, The Characters of Easter, The Characters of Creation, and A Way With Words. He is the general editor, along with Trillia Newbell, of a small group study on racial reconciliation, The Church and the Racial Divide and is a contributor to The Worldview Study Bible. He and his wife Angela have four children.
