Forgiveness. The act of forgiveness isn't always easy but there is no question that God calls us to forgive. Colin Smith, of Unlocking the Bible, will provide some biblical insight on this often complicated issue.
Do Americans see many sources of truth and reject moral absolutes? Research champion, Dr. George Barna, talks with Dawn and Steve Mornings about the "American Worldview Inventory"
Senior Pastor of Long Hollow Baptist Church, Robby Gallaty, joins the conversation with Dawn and Steve Mornings! Pastor Gallaty will talk about the pressures of ministry, life, and how we are created!
Colin S. Smith is senior pastor of The Orchard Evangelical Free Church, a vibrant, multi-campus church in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. More widely, Colin is the teacher on the daily radio program Unlocking the Bible. Colin was born and raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. He met his wife Karen at while studying at London Bible College and later ministered at the Enfield Evangelical Free Church in north London. The Smiths now live in the Chicago area and have two grown children and three grandchildren.
George Barna has filled executive roles in politics, marketing, advertising, media development, research, and ministry. He founded the Barna Research Group in 1984 (now The Barna Group). He currently serves as the Executive Director of the American Culture and Faith Institute (a division of United in Purpose), and is President of Metaformation, a faith development organization. Barna has written more than 50 books, mostly addressing cultural trends, leadership, spiritual development, and church dynamics. They include New York Times bestsellers and several award-winning books. After attending high school and college together, George and his wife Nancy married in 1978. They have three adopted daughters and one grandchild, live on the central California coast, and attend Mission Church in Ventura.
Robby has served as Long Hollow’s Senior Pastor since 2015. He wasn’t always a pastor, though.
For three years, he battled a drug addiction that ravaged his life. A $180 a day heroin and cocaine addiction forced him to steal $15,000 from his parents. After living without gas, electricity, and water for months, losing 8 of his friends to drug-related deaths, watching 6 friends arrested, and completing two rehab treatments, Robby remembered the gospel that was shared with him by a friend in college and was radically saved on November 12, 2002.
Eight months later, David Platt, a seminary student and church member at the time, asked Robby to meet weekly for accountability, prayer, and bible study. For the next 2 years, David installed a passion for missions, expository preaching, and disciple-making in his life. He also encouraged Robby to go back to school to pursue theological education.
Robby completed his Masters of Divinity Degree in Expository Preaching in 2007 and his Ph.D. in Preaching in 2011 from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Today, Robby’s gospel conviction and evangelistic zeal drive him to passionately “make disciples who make disciples.”
In addition to his leadership at Long Hollow, Robby is also the founder of Replicate Ministries and the author of several books, including Growing Up, Firmly Planted, and Rediscovering Discipleship.
Robby and his beautiful wife, Kandi, have two young sons: Rig and Ryder.
