Today, we face a dramatic rise in every psychological and spiritual need, just as affordable counseling solutions are more difficult to find. Enter the church and millions of Christian lay people who understand brokenness, grace, and the power of relationship. In every community, the church has the opportunity to be a key place people go for help. Shaunti Feldhahn joins us to help us better understand the mental health crisis in our community and the profoundly important role the Church can play in helping hurting people.
When we first encounter the Bible, we are taught its stories--Adam and Eve, Moses and the Red Sea, David and Goliath, Jonah and the whale, and more. When a story lacks the details we crave, we fill in the blanks--with what we've seen in movies, read in books, and been told by our Sunday school teachers. But there's a better way to encounter the whole story of Scripture: uncovering and understanding the ancient world and the people who experienced biblical events.
Harvard-trained archaeologist and theologian Amanda Hope Haley will join us to scrape back 2,000 years of misguided cultural interpretations to reveal God's Word in its historical, archaeological, and literary contexts.
Shaunti Feldhahn received her graduate degree from Harvard University and was an analyst on Wall Street before unexpectedly becoming a social researcher, best-selling author and popular speaker.
