It’s hard to comprehend the physical and mental challenges our combat veterans face when they return home. A former Navy SEAL sniper, the late Dr. Howard Wasdin was an elite warrior on the battlefield, but he faced a more formidable foe when his tour of duty was over. Join us to hear a past conversation with Dr. Howard and his wife Debbie, as they shared his deeply personal story.
Aziz was more than an interpreter for our guest Chad Robichaux, a Force Recon Marine, during his eight deployments to Afghanistan. He was a teammate, brother, and friend. More than once, Aziz saved his life. And then he needed someone to save him. When President Joe Biden announced in April 2021 that the United States would be making a hasty withdrawal from Afghanistan, our guest knew he had to get Aziz and his family out before Taliban forces took over the country. Join us to hear a gripping account of two heroes and a daring mission that put human hearts and names alongside the headlines of one of the most harrowing moments in our history.
The late Dr. Howard E. Wasdin served as a member of SEAL Team SIX. After graduating with BUD/S Class 143, he later became a top sniper with SEAL Team SIX. For his actions in “Operation Gothic Serpent” in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993, he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States, and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in action. In that conflict, he was wounded three times and nearly lost his right leg. Howard served in the US Navy for twelve years, nine of which were as part of the SEAL Teams. After twelve years, he was medically discharged due to the injuries he sustained in Mogadishu. The Somalia conflict would later become more commonly known as “Black Hawk Down”, nick-named after the story depicted by Mark Bowden in his book and movie of the same name.
