Hour 2: The Responsive Marriage
When you marry, your heart overflows with enthusiasm, exhilaration, and optimism. You can’t wait to start a new life with this one whose mere presence or voice causes an abundance of feel-good neurotransmitters to flood your brain. But soon after, differences in temperament, gender, family of origin, and marital expectations collide. You discover that the characteristics and behaviors you once found attractive in your mate, are now sources of irritation and frustration. Conflict erupts, causing reactivity in your temperament to surface more often. Before long, your dialogue degrades with frequent accusations and debates about perspective. Today, our guest will show us the enemy in this fight isn’t our spouse. Unmanaged reactivity, those involuntary and unregulated reactive messages you inadvertently send your spouse when you’re triggered, is the culprit. Join us to learn how to have a “responsive marriage”.

Jack Hibbs is the senior and founding pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, based in Southern California, the Founder & President of Real Life ministry, and a nationally syndicated TV & Radio host. Jack and his wife, Lisa, began a home fellowship over thirty years ago with just six faithful souls. Dr. Don Welch
Dr. Donald W. Welch, Ph.D., LMFT, CST is the Founder and CEO of the The Welch Family Therapy Institute (WFTI). Dr. Welch, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Sex Therapist with over 30 years of experience in the fields of mental health and relationship skills. Dr. Welch founded the Center for Enriching Relationships (CER) in 2002 which currently operates ten (10) sites with thirty (30) therapists and fifty (50) university students in training serving thousands of clients throughout San Diego, California. Dr. Welch oversees a partnership between CER and Point Loma Nazarene University to train and provide clinical hours to students in the Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling program. He is a published author, university professor, and speaker at conferences, churches, retreats, and seminars throughout the United States. He holds a bachelor’s degree, three (3) master’s degrees, and a doctorate degree.
