Baggage has gotten a bad rap. We think it's all bad. We think it makes us less likely to have good, healthy relationships today. But baggage isn't just the bad stuff that happened to us in the past. It's the lessons we've taken from the pain we carry. It's how what we've been through has actually made us stronger and more capable than we imagine. And it's how we're going to make our current relationships work. Far from minimizing past pain, our guest will show you how to go through the baggage you carry from a difficult childhood and pull out the good stuff. The intentionality you've developed. The empathy you've gained. The trust you value so highly. He will share his own past in a dysfunctional family impacted by alcoholism and divorce, and his present as part of a healthy and loving family, to illustrate how to stop letting your past sabotage your present.
Hour 2: Spiritual Warfare
It’s time for one of our favorite conversations. We open the phone lines this hour to take any questions you have on the subject of spiritual warfare. Is the Devil real? Does he know our thoughts? Can Christians be demon-occupied? Does someone have to pray a specific prayer to drive a demon out of someone? How do we know when someone is possessed? These are just a few of the kinds of questions we will answer during today’s broadcast. Come with your questions but call in quickly. The lines stay lit for the entire hour!

Dr. Ike Miller
Ike Miller (PhD, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School) leads Bright City Church in Durham, North Carolina, a church he planted in 2018 along with his wife, Sharon Hodde Miller. He has written about the intersection of theology, mental health, and family of origin issues in outlets such as Christianity Today and Missio Alliance. After confronting the impact of his own childhood, including a family history of substance use disorders, Ike has developed a passion for helping others who grew up in difficult circumstances to better understand how those environments continue to impact them and their relationships now.
Dr. Karl Payne
Dr. Karl Payne is a pastor, teacher, speaker, author and former NFL chaplain. He is currently on staff at Antioch Bible Church of Redmond, WA. where his primary role is serving as the Pastor of Leadership Development and Discipleship Training. He served as the chaplain for the Seattle Seahawks football team from 1994-2015. Dr. Payne is the author of the 3 books discipleship series Transferable Cross Training Volumes 1-3. He co-authored A Just Defense (1987) and Cross Training (1993). He also contributed to two reference books, The Encyclopedia of Biblical Christian Ethics and The Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics. His own book, Spiritual Warfare: Christians, Demonization and Deliverance (2011) continues to be a popular reference of the topic of spiritual warfare.
