The Sinking of the USS Indianapolis
On the Memorial Day edition of Chris Fabry Live, hear a message from a WWII hero. On July 30, 1945, the USS Indianapolis was sunk in only 12 minutes. There were nearly 1200 men aboard. 900 went into the water. 317 survived those 5 days, and you'll hear the late Edgar Harrell tell that story of courage, resilience, and faith.

Edgar Harrell
Edgar Harrell, USMC (Ret.), owned and operated a distributorship for the Pella Window Company in Rock Island, Ill., for 35 years, served for 15 years on the board of Moody Bible Institute, and was a lay minister throughout his adult life. He and his wife, Ola, had two children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Edgar spoke extensively around the United States about his survival at sea. Edgar Harrell passed away on May 8, 2021. He was the last living Marine who served aboard the USS Indianapolis.
