“I would say for me and my house—we serve the Lord,” says Joe, who has been a valued and faithful Moody partner since 2010 and recently expanded his legacy of generosity by bequeathing a large IRA account, and eventually his home, to Moody.
Joe lives in Demotte, Indiana, where he was born and raised in a Christian home. For 42 years, he worked in the energy industry, building and managing power plants. In 2000, his family discovered Moody Radio—and was instantly hooked. “We started listening to Moody Radio all the time,” Joe says. The Christ-centered programming became a “godsend,” providing his family with solid Bible teaching, inspiring music, and daily encouragement. But Moody Radio would also sustain Joe through one of the most agonizing seasons of his life.

Joe and his son, Joey.
In 2006, Joe’s son, Joey, died in an automobile accident. A private in the army, Joey had just completed his final pre-deployment training and was one month away from his twenty-first birthday. Joe was devastated and months later, in a moment of deep grief, he was alone in his bedroom crying out to the Lord to heal his broken heart.
“I was lamenting the loss of Joey and at my lowest point,” Joe recalls. “Then my room filled with light, and I felt such an overwhelming feeling of peace. Moody Radio was on, and at that exact moment, the National Christian Choir was singing ‘He Answers Our Prayers.’ I knew it was from God!” God had met Joe in his sorrow and comforted him in a deeply profound way—but the Lord wasn’t finished.
A few months later, while spending time in Fort Myers, Florida, Joe experienced what he now sees as God’s providence when he unexpectedly met members of the National Christian Choir—the same choir he’d heard on Moody Radio that life-changing night. They invited him to their performance that evening. During the concert, the conductor acknowledged Joe and dedicated the same song, “He Answers Our Prayers,” in honor of his family. “It was so powerful; I just couldn’t believe it,” Joe says.
Because of this and countless other ways God has used Moody to bless Joe and his family, it’s easy to understand why he continues to financially support Moody’s ministries—especially Moody Radio—by regular giving and donating his financial and material assets. “I’m trying to be more like Christ every day, and all the wonderful people on Moody Radio help me take more action for the Lord!”
Will you join Joe and other valued Moody partners by making a bequest of non-cash assets—such as real estate, stocks, or other property—to help continue impacting lives with the gospel?
