Hour 2: Summer of Love - with Pastor Danny Slavich
On Thursday's Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Pastor Danny Slavich of Cross United Church South Florida wants to set the tone for this summer with one of his favorite verses in the Bible: "Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins." We are called to love God, but love is defined not first of all by our love for God. Love starts with God because God is love; he sets his own internal and eternal love on us. Love starts not with our love for God, but God's love for us. Pastor Danny encourages us to think about 1 John 4:10 and have a summer of God's biblically defined love!

Jay and Laura Laffoon
After meeting on a blind date in 1984, Jay & Laura’s brief courtship has since transformed into a daily marital celebration. They have been presenting comedy-infused marriage events for more than twenty years. In 1995, they founded Celebrate Ministries, Inc., to help busy couples stay happily married for life. Growing up in Petoskey, Michigan, Jay holds degrees in biblical literature and music, and Laura holds a degree in social ministries. Both Jay and Laura previously served on staff at Youth for Christ and Mount Pleasant Community Church, coordinating its marriage and family care ministry. They currently live in Michigan. They have two grown children: daughter, Grace, and son, Torrey, who is married to Shana.
Danny Slavich
Danny Slavich grew up in Northern California in a Christian family and sensed God’s call to attend seminary and become a pastor. After graduation from San Jose State University, Danny attended Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. He was married to his wife, Laura in 2007, and in 2009, they were called to a church in Miramar, FL where they stayed for almost nine years. In the summer of 2017, God made it clear that he was opening the door for them to plant a new church in Laura’s hometown of Lighthouse Point/Deerfield Beach. They are now serving and ministering to the church Body at Cross United Church South Florida.
