On the next Equipped, Dr. Holly Geyer from the Mayo Clinic joins guest host Susie Larson. Dr. Geyer has seen first-hand the heartbreak of addiction and offers both medical insight and hope in Christ. Susie Larson is a bestselling author, national speaker, and host of the popular radio show Susie Larson Live. A two-time finalist for the prestigious John C. Maxwell Transformational Leadership Award, she is the author of over 20 books and devotionals. Her book, Closer Than Your Next Breath was a finalist for the ECPA book of the year in 2024. Holly Geyer
Holly L. Geyer, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Medicine and consultant in the Division of Hospital Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic. She is dual board certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine and serves as Physician Lead of the Opioid Stewardship Program at Mayo Clinic in Arizona as well as Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Arizona Occupational Health Services. She is a nationally recognized speaker on the topic of opioids and addiction neurobiology and has authored more than 200 journal articles, book chapters, educational pieces and abstracts and is a featured television and radio media consultant. She is also author of the patient-education book, Ending the Crisis: Mayo Clinic’s Guide to Opioid Addiction and Safe Opioid Use. She is active at the local and national level addressing opioid policy and co-chairs multiple national and state taskforces and working groups. As a Medical Advisor and addiction expert for the NFL Alumni Association Health Initiative, she additionally helps coordinate national activities and partnerships to educate the public about this critical topic.

Chris Brooks
Chris Brooks is the senior pastor of Woodside Bible Church, a multisite congregation across the Detroit metropolitan area. Chris served for 20 years as the senior pastor of Evangel Ministries, a thriving 1,600-member church in the heart of Detroit. He also served as the campus dean of Moody Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. A popular Detroit radio host since 2005, Chris is the author of Kingdom Dreaming and Urban Apologetics. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Finance, completed his MA in Christian Apologetics at Biola University, and graduated from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Yodit, are the proud parents of six children: Christopher, Zewditu, Cameron, Judah, Sophia, and Christyana.
