Unleashing Your Full Potential for God

”Renew your mind so you can understand your new purpose and calling in your life”

—Mark Jobe

THIS WEEK’S BOLD STEP DEVOTION

“‘Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.’”
(Romans 12:1)

In the dry, seemingly lifeless landscape of the Sierra Desert, scientists discovered an astonishing truth. Beneath the soil lay hidden lakes, filled with the water that the land desperately needed. For years, the need for water was clear, but the solution was unknown. It wasn’t until recent advancements in technology that people began tapping into these hidden sources of life-giving water.

Spiritually, many of us are like that dry land. We often focus on what we lack or on what we think we don't have or can't access. But the truth is, we have far more than we realize. Just as the land needed water that was already there, we have untapped potential within us, waiting to be accessed and used for God's glory.

The Apostle Paul often reminded believers from all walks of life that they had potential they weren’t fully aware of. Whether rich or poor, slave or free, educated or uneducated, Paul made it clear: everyone had a role in God's kingdom, and God had already provided the resources they needed to live a life that reflects His goodness.

When we first come to Christ, we experience a radical change in our body, mind and spirit. Each of these areas is impacted by the grace of God, and through this change, we are brought into a new identity in Christ. But many Christians get stuck in their spiritual journey, not because the Christian life doesn’t work, but because they don’t take the next step to renew their minds. With the world pressuring us to conform to its values and expectations, it’s critical that we begin to start to see a difference picture- living for God’s purposes and not the world’s.

Today, I challenge you to take a moment and reflect on your life. What are the things you’ve been holding back from God? What are the talents and gifts you’ve kept hidden or neglected? Remember, you don’t need to wait until you have everything “perfect” to step into your full potential for God. He has already given you everything you need to start. You are a living sacrifice with the potential to impact the world for eternity!

Ministry Update from Mark

Will you allow me to brag on my son Grant a little? Back in January, he turned 26 and though we couldn’t celebrate with him in person on the actual day, with him deployed overseas and serving as a First Lieutenant in the army. Dee and I took some time to reflect on the young man he is developing into. We’ve watched Grant grow into a an adventurous, bold, patriotic, and leader man of God. As we pray for God to guide and direct our own son in his life, maybe you want to pause right now to pray for your own children or grandchildren that they would continue steadfast in the faith.
