Matthew 6:1-18 I Part 2 of “Don’t Show Off.” The message of these 18 verses is simply this: Don't show off. Don't use spiritual disciplines to promote yourself. In this passage, Jesus is not necessarily talking about running from recognition, but he does say it’s wrong to do something for the recognition.
Today we read the account of the disciples and Jesus experiencing the storm at sea. This literal event is also a portrait of what the Christian life is all about and how God Himself develops us. We’ll learn that faith cannot exist without uncertainty, adversity, and crisis.
