The Splash Effect

”No one should be able to get close to you without them knowing you are a person of faith”

—Mark Jobe

THIS WEEK’S BOLD STEP DEVOTION

One of Dee’s and my favorite pastimes in the summer when our kids were younger was to take them swimming at our local pool. Over the years, I’ve learned that people come to the pool for various reasons such as to sunbathe, do laps or just have fun in the water. My kids did their share of splashing and playing around which inevitably irritated nearby sunbathers. Hopefully, that wasn’t you! 😊

As Christians, some of us need to be more like my kids and splash a bit more on those around you. In a society where relativism and pluralism are popular and accepted, we can’t afford to be closet Christians and remain silent for fear of what others might think of us. We will never lead others to Christ unless we make some waves and seek to become an overflow person to those we come across in our daily lives.

Jesus said that He is the way, the truth, and the life and no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). Though some people may find that message offensive, God calls his followers to speak boldly about Him through the power of His Spirit. You don’t have to know fancy terms or be a theologian, you just need to have a story- your story- of once being lost and now you’re found.

When was the last time you shared your faith? Maybe it’s time to jump in and splash those around you!
