“When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.”
(Luke 13:12)
Have you ever felt stuck in life? Like a car spinning its wheels in deep snow, the harder you try to move forward, the deeper you seem to sink. Maybe you sense that God has more for your life, yet something keeps holding you back. You know you’re called to grow and walk in freedom, but you just can’t seem to break free from old patterns, past hurts, or lingering fears.
In Luke 13, Jesus encounters a woman who had lived bent over for 18 years. She faithfully attended the synagogue, but she had grown accustomed to living in bondage. Then one day, everything changed. Jesus saw her, called her forward, and transformed her life. Sometimes we’ve lived with our struggles for so long that we begin to accept them as normal. We settle into our old patterns and stop expecting anything to change. But Jesus never intended for His people to remain in bondage. Throughout Scripture, He calls people out of hiding, out of fear, and out of brokenness. Adam was called from the garden, Elijah from the cave, Zacchaeus from the tree, and the woman in Luke 13 was called to step forward in faith. Every breakthrough begins when we’re willing to respond to God’s voice, even when the next step feels uncomfortable or uncertain.
The good news is that the freedom you’re longing for doesn’t come through greater self-effort. It comes through the power and presence of Jesus. He still sees those who are stuck, calls them forward, and transforms their lives. Whatever has been keeping you from moving ahead, don’t settle for it another day. Take that next step of faith and trust that the One who calls you is also the One who gives you the power to walk in freedom.
Bold Step Challenge:
Ask God to reveal one area where you’ve become comfortable staying stuck. Then take one courageous step of obedience today, trusting that His power is greater than whatever has been holding you back.
Prayer:
Father, thank You for seeing me exactly where I am and loving me too much to leave me there. Give me the courage to respond when You call me forward. Break every chain that has kept me from walking in the freedom You desire for me, and fill me with the power of Your Spirit to move ahead in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
