This passage marks a pivotal change in the book of Matthew and in the earthly ministry of Jesus. It is a sad passage. It is both a tribute and a rebuke for rejection of the truth and missed opportunity.

Today we read the account of the disciples and Jesus experiencing the storm at sea. This literal event is also a portrait of what the Christian life is all about and how God Himself develops us. We’ll learn that faith cannot exist without uncertainty, adversity, and crisis.
