“Joshua told the people, ‘Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.’”
(Joshua 3:5)
Have you ever wondered why some people step into new seasons of life while others seem stuck in the same place year after year? The truth is, seasons do not change accidentally; they change intentionally. What you do today is shaping where you will stand tomorrow.
Every habit, choice, and attitude is a seed being planted, and over time those seeds produce a harvest. I think about decisions that echo for decades, like choosing a godly spouse, and how that one act of obedience can shape a family’s culture, unity, and spiritual direction for generations. If your future is going to be different, then your choices today must also be different.
This is exactly where we find the people of Israel in Joshua chapter 3, standing at the edge of the Jordan River with the wilderness behind them and the Promised Land ahead of them. They were facing a second chance after missing it 40 years earlier. God does not rush them forward. Instead, He calls them to follow His presence, symbolized by the Ark of the Covenant, reminding them that their movement had to be rooted in dependence on Him. I have learned that closeness to God matters more than clarity about the future because when you stay near to Him, He leads you step by step even when you can’t see the full path.
Then comes the command that prepares them for breakthrough: “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.” This reveals a powerful truth—preparation today makes room for God’s power tomorrow.
Consecration is a personal decision to set yourself apart fully for God, to examine your heart, habits, and attachments, and to release anything that does not belong in your next season. I often think of it like traveling with an overpacked suitcase. You can’t move forward until you remove what is weighing you down. In the same way, some of us are carrying bitterness, distractions, or compromises that are keeping us from stepping into what God has ahead. What you let go of today determines what you are able to receive tomorrow.
Bold Step Challenge:
Ask God to show you one area of your life that needs to change in order to prepare you for your next season. Then take a decisive step this week to surrender it, release it, or realign it with His will.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You that You are always leading me forward into what You have prepared. Help me to recognize that my choices today matter and that they are shaping my future. Draw me closer to Your presence so I follow You with trust, and give me the courage to consecrate every area of my life, letting go of anything that does not belong. Prepare me for what You want to do next, and lead me into the season You have for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Have you ever sensed a season coming to a close while also feeling anticipation for what God is about to do next? That is where Dee and I find ourselves today.
After much prayer and discernment, I believe this is the right time to hand the baton of leadership at Moody Bible Institute to the next person God has prepared, and I will continue serving through June 30, 2026, to help ensure a smooth transition.
Serving as president these past seven years has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. When I began, my goal was simple: to leave Moody stronger, healthier, and more spiritually vibrant. By God’s grace, I believe we are seeing that today. Dee and I are deeply encouraged by the momentum, the lives being impacted, and the global reach of this ministry.
At the same time, we sense God leading us back into a deeper focus on preaching, evangelism, and church planting. I want you to know that Bold Steps with Mark Jobe will continue, and Bold Steps Daily and Bold Steps Minute will keep airing on Moody Radio.
I am so grateful for each of you who have been part of our radio family these past seven years. Thank you for walking with us, and please continue praying for what God has next.
