Why Pray?

First Thessalonians 5:16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (ESV). Prayer is an important part of the life of the believer and sheds light on our priorities in when, who, and what we pray for.

Prayer is also a great privilege, giving us access to our Heavenly Father. We have been empowered by the Holy Spirit to petition heaven for His kingdom to come.

I want you to be encouraged that God hears your prayers. Keep praying for your family, keep praying for revival, keep praying for changed lives.

Chris Brooks

Chris Brooks is the senior pastor of Evangel Ministries, a thriving 1600-member church in the heart of Detroit. He also serves as campus dean of Moody Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. A popular Detroit radio host since 2005, Chris is author of Kingdom Dreaming and Urban Apologetics. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Finance, completed his MA in Christian Apologetics at Biola University, and graduated from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics at Oxford University. He and his wife, Yodit, are the proud parents of Christopher, Zewditu, Cameron, and Judah.
