Hour 1: Surviving Sorrow: A Conversation with Kim Erickson

After her three-year-old son passed away suddenly, author Kim Erickson said what she really needed was advice on living, not just grieving. As we approach National Grief Awareness Day this week, Kim will share how she answered her own call for this advice in her book, Surviving Sorrow. Kim will offer some practical tips for those ministering to the grieving as well as provide needed hope and encouragement for the grieving journey in this timely conversation.

Kim Erickson began following Christ after the death of her three-year-old son in 2008. She developed a deep, abiding love for the Word of God and began a writing and speaking ministry. She is the author of His Last Words: What Jesus Taught and Prayed in His Final Hours and Surviving Sorrow, as well as a contributor to Hopelifter: Creative Ways to Spread Hope When Life Hurts. Kim is an attorney and practices immigration law. She lives in Florida with her husband, Devin, and son, Ethan.

Brian Smith is the Lead Pastor/Elder at Wildwood Baptist Church. He and his wife, Kellye, have five children, one of whom is with the Lord, and are licensed foster parents in Illinois. He has served at Wildwood since April 2017. His family has a hobby farm complete with Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs, chickens, goats, a mini donkey, and a couple of Jersey heifers! Brian also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve.
