Hour 1: The Celebration of Hanukkah: A Conversation with Dr. Michael Rydelnik
One of the most celebrated Jewish holidays begins next week and Ken and Deb talk about it with Jewish studies professor and Open Line host Dr. Michael Rydelnik. Dr. Rydelnik will share the history and the meaning behind Hanukkah and answers the question, "did Jesus celebrate Hanukkah?" He'll also share some of the significance of celebrating Hanukkah for messianic believers and followers of Messiah today.
Hour 2: Why He Came: A Prepared Devotional Thought with Doug Rowland
Why did Jesus come to be "with us?" Rock Island Bible Church Pastor Doug Rowland takes us to John 18 and Jesus' trial before Pontius Pilate to gain insight from Jesus as to why He came. Learn what Jesus says about truth and the truth about ourselves that begs a response to either embrace it or reject it; the decision we make has eternal consequences.

Dr. Michael Rydelnik
Rydelnik is professor of Jewish Studies at Moody Bible Institute and the Bible teacher on Moody Radio’s Open Line, answering listener Bible questions on over 200 stations nationwide. The son of Holocaust survivors, Michael was raised in an observant Jewish home in Brooklyn, N.Y. As a high school student, Michael became a follower of Jesus the Messiah and began teaching the Bible almost immediately.
Doug Rowland
Doug Rowland is the lead Pastor of Rock Island Bible Church. Doug and his wife Kristin have been married for 11 years and even since their dating years have been serving in ministry together. They moved to Rock Island to live out their calling as sent people to the West End neighborhood, helping to establish Rock Island Bible Church in 2018. Doug received his B.A. in History and Comparatives Religious Studies at Illinois Wesleyan University in 2006 and a Masters degree (MDiv) from Denver Seminary in 2009.
