Why Is It That You Do What You Do ?

It's easy to harbor feelings of resentment and discontent in the everyday affairs of life, especially when it comes to the work we do to provide for ourselves and our families. As Christians, God calls us to a different standard! We are to give thanks in all circumstances, recognizing that work is a gift from God, to utilize the gifts He has given us to serve others in love, for His glory. This morning, we spent some time talking about the work God has provided for us to do. Why is it that you do what you do? Listeners weighed in. God is being glorified!

How Can the Church Serve Families Touched by Autism? – Chris Gordon

According to Autism Speaks, the non-profit research and awareness organization, 2.7 percent of children and 2.2 percent of adults in the United States have autism.
So, in a church of just 200, at least two children and two adults probably have autism. 
Your church probably has autistic brothers and sisters attending.
Autistic people can feel intimidating to those of us who don’t understand much about it.
Autistic folks may or may not be able to read social cues, may dress differently, speak differently or not speak at all. 
They may not easily fit into the usual Sunday school classes, youth groups, and adult community groups.
They may need quiet spaces, breaks from worship or group meetings, and predictability. 
The key to reaching out to the autistic and their families is knowing what it is.. and how to love and serve them well as the body of Christ!

Criswell: His Life and Times – O.S. Hawkins

When the name W. A. Criswell is read or heard, certain thoughts come to mind. 
Many likely remember him as a president of the Southern Baptist Convention, or the founder of the Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, or the senior pastor for five decades of one of the largest Baptist churches in America, or even one of the key figures during the Conservative Resurgence. 
All of these are acknowledgments of the importance of the life of Criswell, but these do not necessarily capture who he was as a man, as a husband, as a father, as a friend and mentor.
O.S. Hawkins was closely mentored by Criswell and was his pastoral successor.
He joined us to share some great takeaways from Criswell’s life!

On Monday, producer Marc and Kurt were confronted with a thin mystery box sitting in the studio. It was addressed to Kurt and Kate. The only problem? Kate was off for the day! The answer to the great mystery of what was inside the box would have to wait.....until today.
