1: Our Kids and the Tsunami of Wokeness

Wokeness threatens to sweep away our kids, even our youngest. But it’s not time to throw stones at culture, it’s time to pour into our kids. To teach them who they are and why they’re here. We can raise up unshakable kids in a culture that’s shaking. And Daniel Darling can help us! Daniel’s a pastor and author. His brand-new storybook for your kids is The Biggest Best Light.

His book is the springboard for our conversation. We talk about teaching kids three to seven to know who they are: beautiful image-bearers of God. Then, how to teach our kids to show God’s love to their broken world. And last, we talk about how to joyfully teach our kids to own their gender and how to have organic conversations with your kids about your faith!

2: How To Woke-Proof Your Family

There is wave of wokeness raging through our culture that threatens to sweep our families away. But it’s not time to cower in fear. It’s time to allow the Spirit of God and the word of God to flow into us as parents and then out of us into our children. It’s the way forward to building an unshakable family that blesses each other and our world. Dr. Daniel Huerta, Vice President of Parenting at Focus on the Family joins the team to winsomely point the way! It’s all about families that not only survive but thrive!

3: I Rejected Religion (That’s When Jesus Found Me)

Erskin grew up in the black church in Texas. He saw a lot of excitement for God on Sunday but none any other day of the week. It seemed fake, lifeless. And so, he walked away. Erskin Anavitarte, Texas-born, singer-songwriter from Nashville joins the team to share his journey from empty religion to Jesus. Erskin also helps us see through his eyes what it was like growing up as a black person.

And we talk about how the gospel has the power to heal racism and yet how Sunday morning is still the most segregated time in America, grippingly expressed in his song Black and White. We also see how God is writing our story especially when it’s darkest. We have a conversation about the Grand Canyon difference between religion and the gospel. And last, raising up Gen Z to follow Jesus. Please share this if your encouraged by it!

Profile

Shawna Beyer

Shawna Beyer has a way of telling stories that create personal connection— to her, to one another, and to God. She has been a homeschool mom, church planter, project lead for a consulting company, and church staff member. Though she’s been involved in ministry with her husband (Dan) in Iowa, Arizona, and now Michigan, she was born and raised in Southern California and as they say, “You can take the girl out of California . . .” She is mom to four grown kids (Bryn, Drayson, Eden, and Haven) who no longer need her but humor her anyway. Shawna is passionate about the rhythms we weave into the fabric of our lives to fall more in love with God each day. Healthy foods are her go-to, but she will abandon that whole track in a heartbeat for a homemade cinnamon roll like Grandma used to make.
