Plugged In’s Adam Holtz joins the team to talk kids, screens, and Disney’s mission to disciple our kids into the LGBTQ culture. First we talk kids and screen time, Adam says the key to success is relationship before rules, and setting our kids up for success to make smart screen time decisions. Then, what is going on with Disney. Disney is committed to 50% of their characters being LGBTQ going forward. Adam says the best practice here is to have an ongoing conversation with our kids about God’s counter-cultural, life giving way to live.
Next, as a parent, it can be easy to freak out and react in anger. That probably won’t help our kids at all. But do seize this opportunity to talk with your kids about where true identity is found. Then, Adam’s own teenagers can see they’re being discipled by mainstream media culture. Adam shares their insights. Finally, Disney owns Star Wars, Marvel, ESPN, and ABC. Their influence is vast. Adam says let’s teach our kids to be super wise media consumers who live with gospel humility, compassion and truth in a culture that has lost its way.
