Prayer: Clean Yourself Up First?

The most powerful praying is when we are rooted in the "Never Stopping, Never Giving Up, Unbreaking, Always and Forever Love" of God. In this praying we hear the Lord singing over us and we see how he wants us to partner with him to repair our world! David Holland author of Praying Grace, and Praying Grace for Women joins the team for a conversation about what this kind of praying looks like. First, for so long David felt unqualified to come to God, that he had to clean himself up first, he was trapped in try-harder Christianity.

Then, intimacy in prayer only happens when we know God accepts us as we are, not as we should be. Next, when we are confident of God’s love for us we’ll hear him speaking to us. “But how can I know it’s God speaking?” Then, Perry has a family member who has suffered all his life and he’s only gotten worse. Perry asks David for some help. Next, how can we pray in bold faith without getting into “name it, claim it.” Finally, renewing your mind in God’s word is crucial to life-giving prayer.
