1: Mary Christmas

Mary, the mother of Jesus was the most important human in the most earth-shaking event in history: Bringing the Messiah into the world. Which could make our calling feel insignificant. But Mary wasn’t super-human, she just humbly said yes to God. Like we can. And there’s so much MORE than that! Helping with the more is author and speaker, Marina Hofman (PhD) who teaches Bible and theology at Palm Beach Atlantic University. We discover from Mary the power of saying yes to God.

We see in her the call to be all in with God yet not have to be all put together. Other powerful take-aways: The same Spirit that conceived Jesus in Mary’s womb is at work in us. Mary walked out her enormous calling by taking the next step. Mary’s life calls us to a long obedience in the same direction. We too bear Christ to our world. When facing the impossible, trust God. And finally, as Mary was assured that “No word from God will ever fail,” we have the same assurance. If this encourages you, please share!

3: He Will Lift You Up

It’s Freedom Friday! If you’re weary in the war against sin and evil, Samwise from Lord of the Rings has a message for you. Then Mary and Joseph weren’t actually turned away from every home in Bethlehem; they were welcomed by family! Next the three words that became so precious to Perry after his dark night of the soul in 1996—words that come from an ancient story. Then, how a great song is created; out of the dark night of the soul: The story behind O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Next, Perry admits he’d probably still be chained by depression and shame if he hadn’t learned the difference between faith and feelings. Then, the Lord gets giddy when he sees a person who says, “I can’t do this, but God can,” like Mary, the mother of Jesus. Next on Christmas morning of 1996 Perry was hit with the most terrifying thought of his life—and he wants to pass on what God taught him. Finally, Marina Hofman shares how God has used women throughout history up to the present to pave the way for mighty moves of God. Please share!

Shawna Beyer

Shawna Beyer has a way of telling stories that create personal connection— to her, to one another, and to God. She has been a homeschool mom, church planter, project lead for a consulting company, and church staff member. Though she’s been involved in ministry with her husband (Dan) in Iowa, Arizona, and now Michigan, she was born and raised in Southern California and as they say, “You can take the girl out of California . . .” She is mom to four grown kids (Bryn, Drayson, Eden, and Haven) who no longer need her but humor her anyway. Shawna is passionate about the rhythms we weave into the fabric of our lives to fall more in love with God each day. Healthy foods are her go-to, but she will abandon that whole track in a heartbeat for a homemade cinnamon roll like Grandma used to make.
