When Shawna was having her first child, she had labored all night doing everything by the book, but no baby! But then there was a shift change. The new nurse came in and she looked right at Shawna and said, “Your body already knows what to do. You can just relax and join it.” We can be tempted to approach our roles as God’s messengers the same way. We try to force it instead of paying attention to what God is doing and joining Him. Then Perry admits that his life moves at a high speed. And a lot of that speed is his desire to join God in what he’s doing. But he thinks he may be missing a lot of what’s God’s up to because of his speed. It’s a conversation about how we need to do some slowing down to catch up with God.
Next, as children of God we are gifted with intimacy with the Father and are given a divine destiny to fulfill: To partner with God to bring His life to the world! When God spoke to Moses through the burning bush He said, “Take off your shoes, Moses. You are on Holy Ground.” It’s a reminder that God’s not our buddy. He’s holy, holy, holy. It’s a reminder to be awestruck that God speaks to us and calls us into mission with him. And finally, a conversation about how fear can keep us from joining God in what he’s doing. And a call to push through the fear to bring his light to our world. Please share this if you’re encouraged by it.
