Happy New Year! Don’t you love new things? Me too! In fact, sometimes I feel guilty about it. Revelation 21:5 says “Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.” At the end God is doing the same thing He was doing in the beginning. He truly is the same yesterday, today and forever. It’s what He’s up to right now! He is making all things new. We were created in His image. Maybe that’s why we get so excited about new things! So go ahead, be excited. Get excited! God has new things for you this year…new relationships, new experiences, new mercies, new blessings. Share your excitement with the God who loves making all things new!
We continue our conversation about the new year by considering how thinking about heaven could impact us right now. Scott shares a story of a young pastor who thought he wouldn’t live much longer and began setting aside time each day to think about heaven. God healed him and in his health he continued the practice of meditating on heaven. How can you and I think more on heaven and eternity in our day to day lives?
As the conversation continues on God making all things new Shawna remembers taking a walk with her then 18 month old daughter when something so ordinary caught her daughters attention. She absolutely delighted in a very ordinary thing. At that moment Shawna realized that daily life with a toddler was an opportunity to discover the world all over again through her eyes. All that had become familiar could be strange once again. What if we entered into 2021 with that same spirit of curiosity? What if we engaged in our relationship with God with the same spirit of wonder? Let the familiar verses & truths about who God is become strange once again. He is wonder full!!!! 2021, let’s do this!
*Program note: Scott Curtis is filling in for Perry LaHaie on today's show.
Our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. In the beginning He created. At the end, as noted in Revelation He declares, “Behold, I am making all things new”. We can be sure that making all things new is what He is doing right now. That includes you and me. Shawna shares a painful yet beautiful refining time she spent with the Lord in the wee hours of the morning. It can be hard but it’s good because He is good!
In Isaiah we read that those who wait on the Lord will soar & fly. They will run and not get tired. YES! Sign me up. I want to soar, fly and run like the wind! But it also says they will walk without giving up. Most of our days are not soaring, flying days but walking step by step in faith and obedience. I don’t know what you are walking through right now but I do know that the God who loves you will give you divine strength to not give up if you wait on Him!
To wrap up our conversation about God making all things new this morning we take a look at the life of Joseph and how, after having everything stripped away from him, more than once, God used those difficult times to ready Joseph for the incredible responsibility that would be entrusted to him and in the end God restored everything Joseph had lost. God takes back what the enemy steals.
We pray you are encouraged through today’s conversation to believe that God is up to something new in your life – without a doubt!
