Our world needs pioneers! Today on Perry and Shawna Mornings we’re joined by Jennifer Hayden Epperson to talk about her new book, The Pioneer's Way. The pioneer is a unique sort of leader. One who colors outside the lines, who does things differently.
A pioneer is one who sees a problem, some kind of suffering, and moves toward it, in a way that no one else has, to bring solutions and healing. The pioneer paves the way for others to follow in their wake and take the vision even further, or the pioneer empowers others to blaze other trails to bring blessing to the world.
So first, Jenn shares about being the first woman manager of a Moody Radio station, how hard it is to be the first and yet how empowering it is for those who follow behind. Then Perry and Shawna have a conversation about one of history’s greatest pioneers, Abraham—When God called Abraham to go to a land he would show him, Abraham obeyed and went, though he didn’t know where he was going. His pioneering has brought the blessing of Jesus to the world!
Next Shawna shares about the spiritual pioneers in her life who paved the way for her to follow Jesus. Like her dad who passed on to her his burning desire and hunger in his heart to know God and to obey Him. And Perry shares about his mom who was the first in his family to say “yes” to Jesus blazing the trail for the rest of the family to follow.
Then Jenn shares about the greatest pioneer ever: The Lord Jesus, who left the glory of heaven to come into our mess and rescue us. And his sacrifice calls those who have been rescued to become pioneering rescuers. And finally Becky, one of our listeners, shares about her friends Marty and Linda who believed in her when no one else did and because of them, she is following Jesus today.
