If you feel like a herd of elephants is stomping on your chest, Caris Snider understands. Today she joins Perry and Shawna to share her journey getting out from underneath the overwhelming weight of anxiety. Caris is a Christian communicator who shares the hope of Jesus through speaking, and leading worship. She is the author of ANXIETY ELEPHANTS: A 31 day devotional to help you stomp out your anxiety. First Caris shares how she used believe anxiety struggles weren’t real, until she was humbled by them. Then she shares how she came to terms with her struggle and how she learned this it’s OK to not be OK. Next she shares how the enemy of our souls tried to make her think that her miscarriage was her fault and how she broke free from that paralyzing thought.
Then Caris admits that anxiety is still a part of her life. But now she has the tools to face her deepest fears. Then Perry shares the root of his anxiety: Feeling like life is all on him. Caris talks about being a control freak. And together they point out that with anxiety, the way out is the way through. Then Shawna shares that as a young mom she was afraid to go from her bedroom to the kitchen when her husband was away and Caris talks about being afraid to travel in the car for a beach trip. But God has empowered Shawna, Caris and Perry to find power from Jesus to overcome these fears. And finally, if you feel paralyzed by anxiety Caris has a laser focused word of encouragement for you. If you’ve been encouraged by today’s show, please share!
