Even as the hostage situation this past weekend at Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville Texas was unfolding, the authorities were slow to label this event as an act of “antisemitism.” Thankfully, no one who was taken hostage was hurt, but the situation could have been much worse. Dr. Michael Rydelnik joins Ken and Deb to help us look more deeply at this current attack and provide for us a religious tie to this event that was overlooked in much of the reporting.

Dr. Michael Rydelnik

Dr. Michael Rydelnik is professor of Jewish Studies and Bible at Moody Bible Institute and the Host/Bible teacher on Moody Radio’s Open Line with Dr. Michael Rydelnik. The son of Holocaust survivors, Michael was raised in an observant Jewish home in Brooklyn, New York. He became a follower of Jesus the Messiah as a high school student and began teaching the Bible almost immediately. He is the author of several books and is the co-editor of and contributor to The Moody Bible Commentary. Michael and his wife, Eva, live in Chicago and have two adult sons.

Ed Hedding is Senior Pastor of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bettendorf. He is a graduate of Liberty University and has been in full time ministry since 1987. He loves his wife Diane and three grown children Joshua, Bethany, and Daniel and grandson Christopher Kime. In his spare time he enjoys running outside, golfing and reading. His favorite vacations are at the beach.
