Hour 1: Ace Collins: Christmas Songs and Traditions

When you think of mistletoe what tradition come to mind? Do you think of O Holy Night as a religious song? On this day before Christmas, we are going to learn about some little known facts from our Christmas traditions and songs that will deepen our understanding and appreciation for our faith tradition. Storyteller Ace Collins will show us how a little green plant became the first gospel track and how a priest in a small parish was amazed to hear his song being sung while strolling the streets of a city not his own.  Don’t miss this fascinating conversation that will give you some great stories to share at your Christmas.

Hour 2: Charlie Dyer: Christmas in the Holy Land

What is it like to celebrate Christmas in the Holy Land? Charlie Dyer from The Land and the Book shares from his personal experience some of the historical, cultural, and geographical facts surrounding the birth of our Savior Jesus. He’ll take us on a radio tour of the Holy Land, stopping at those places and pointing to the people that are part of the Biblical account of Jesus’ birth. It’s a trip you won’t want to miss, and just before Christmas!

Ace Collins is the Christy Award winning author of more than 80 books, including Stories Behind the Best-Loved Songs of Christmas and Stories Behind the Great Traditions of Christmas.  He has also been the featured speaker at the National Archives Distinguished Lecture Series, hosted a television special, been featured on many network morning TV shows and does college basketball play-by-play. He is married to Kathy Collins, Chair of the Education Department at Ouachita Baptist University, and the couple has two grown sons. Collins lives in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Dr. Charlie Dyer is professor-at-large of Bible at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill. Dyer is an Old Testament scholar as well as an authority on Middle Eastern history and religion. As a licensed guide to Israel, he has traveled extensively throughout the Middle East over the last two decades. Dyer has authored and coedited many books and articles on the Middle East and the Old Testament.
