Hour 1: What Does Praising God Mean?

What does praising God mean? The Bible tells us over and over again that we are to praise the Lord. Why is this practice so important, where does praise come from, and what are the results of praise? Pastor Ed Hedding will be in studio Tuesday to walk us through what scripture says about praising God, what it looks like for us today and the part it plays in the future.

Hour 2: Furnish Out

Would you be interested in furnishing your home in a way that helps orphan children in China? Tuesday morning we will hear about Furnish Out. Furnish Out sells quality furniture from artisans in China and uses the proceeds to benefit orphans in China through China Hope.  Carrie Pashke will share how God brought two of her passions together to help special needs children in China.

Hour 3: Sharing Love Abundantly in Special Needs Families

Raising children with special needs brings a new set of challenges to parenting. In addition to the normal parenting responsibilities there are more doctor appointments, therapists, outside caregivers, educators, and caring for other children. With all these demands, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and put the love between husband and wife on the back burner. Dr. Gary Chapman and Jolene Philo have joined forces to share how to apply the five love languages to caregiving families. Jolene Philo will offer simple and effective ways of filling  a spouse’s love tank as you minister to the special needs in your family.

Jolene Philo, MEd, is the author of five resource books for the special needs community: A Different Dream for My Child, Different Dream Parenting, The Caregiver's Notebook, and Does My Child Have PTSD?. She co-authored Every Child Welcome: A Ministry Handbook for Including Kids with Special Needs with Katie Wetherbee. During her twenty-five-year career as an educator, Jolene collaborated with special education teachers to mainstream children in her elementary classroom. She left education in 2003 to become a writer and speaker. She and her husband Hiram have two adult children and three grandchildren. They make their home in Polk City, Iowa.
