God's Pit Crew has deployed their Immediate Response Team to Mississippi, following a massive tornado that ripped through the state late Friday, causing catastropic damage and loss of life. Friday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, God's Pit Crew Immediate Response Coordinator, Chris Chiles joins us to talk about the devastation caused by this storm. "We are praying for everyone affected. We are grateful to be able to deploy to Mississippi to help the hurting and offer hope, healing, and restoration".
When life gets overwhelming, most of us have healthy outlets for releasing stress; we may pray, listen to music, go for a run. However, some choose to self-harm -- intentionally causing injury to oneself --as a way of attempting to cope. Friday on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Joannie DeBrito, licensed professional counselor at FOTF tells us that self-inflicted methods of harm are usually not a suicide attempt, but the addictive nature of the disorder can be life threatening, and often friends and family aren't aware that a loved one is self-harming.
Chris Chiles was born in Richmond, VA, and started his career in residential and commercial construction. He joined God's Pit Crew as the Immediate Response Coordinator in August 2020. Before joining God’s Pit Crew, he operated in a similar capacity within ministry for twelve years. Over time, Chris has been exposed to almost every kind of disaster and has personally led volunteer teams who have responded to more than 60 events. In this capacity, Chris has been fortunate to experience glimpses of hope restored in people’s lives when his team meets their needs with compassion and no strings attached.
Joannie DeBrito draws from more than 30 years of diverse experience as a parent educator, family life educator, school social worker, administrator, and licensed mental health professional. Joannie is a regular contributor to Focus on the Family. She is also co-founder and creator of Focus' Alive to Thrive program, a biblical guide to preventing teen suicide.
