Dr. Jim Coakley, Professor of Bible at MBI joins Mornings with Eric and Brigitte on Monday to show us yet another way to freshen up our bible study with the "Coakley Voiceovers and Asides." A definition of a voiceover or aside is an off-screen voice that informs the audience of important facts or opinions in fiction and non-fiction productions. Authors typically do not inject themselves into the events that they are writing about. On occasion, though, they cannot seem to help themselves and insert a "voice-over" that overrides what the characters are doing in the text.
Thursday, on Mornings with Eric and Brigitte, Dr. Juli Slattery, clinical psychologist, author and co-founder of Authentic Intimacy joins us to talk about her new book, God, Sex, and Your Marriage. God, Sex, and Your Marriage challenges the common assumptions couples have about sexuality and presents the richer biblical narrative of sex as a metaphor of God’s covenant love. Juli Slattery applies that biblical framework to the practical challenges in sexual intimacy. It’s God desire to make us more like Himself, and sex within marriage is often a powerful training ground for godly character.
Dr. Jim Coakley has taught at Moody Bible Institute, specializing in Old Testament and Biblical Languages, since 1999. Prior to Moody he was involved in pastoral ministry for thirteen years. He has traveled to Israel multiple times as a tour leader and has also toured throughout Turkey, and recently Egypt too. He was a contributor to The Moody Bible Commentary and Moody Radio's The Land and the Book program.
Dr. Juli Slattery is a clinical psychologist, author, and co-founder of Authentic Intimacy, a ministry dedicated to reclaiming God's design for sexuality. In addition to speaking, she hosts the podcast Java with Juli. In 2020, Juli launched Sexual Discipleship, an online platform to equip Christian leaders for gospel-centered conversations about sexual issues. She's the author of twelve books, including Rethinking Sexuality; Passion Pursuit; and Sex & the Single Girl. She and her husband, Mike live in Akron, Ohio, and have three grown sons.
