In this very untraditional year, maybe we should try hitting "reset" on the TRUE meaning of the Christmas season. If you sense your children needing help to better understand what really matters, try starting a tradition that truly celebrates the birth of Christ. Mary Walker, co-creator of the new picture book, The Best Birthday Cake in the History of Ever! joins Mornings with Eric and Brigitte on Friday to share how we can capture the hearts and attention of our kids through crafts and baking while teaching them about Jesus every step of the way.
Stop and think about it. How many songs have you heard of that have been written to commemorate a baby's birth? Not too many, in this modern day and age. However, there are hundreds, perhaps, thousands, of songs that have been written about the birth of Jesus. David and Barbara Leeman, authors of the book, Hosanna in Excelsis, share a small collection of over 40 songs that provide rich and beautiful words for our worship of the God who sent His Son to earth. These hymns are like a picture album of the story of our blessed Lord Jesus.
A Louisiana native, Mary Walker attended LSU and graduated with a degree in Mass Communication and Business Administration. She moved to Texas in 2000 to expand her career and opened her own marketing consulting company in 2005. Mary is a wife of 14 years to Jeff and a mom to Andrew and identical twin girls, Madilyn and Abigail. They live in the small lake town of Rockwall, Texas.
Mary's desire is for this story to touch the lives of so many families that know that Christmas is meant to be less about presents and Santa and more about the celebration of Jesus.
David and Barbara Leeman are both graduates of Biola University School of Music. David is a retired director of music and worship, and Barbara teaches elementary age music at a private Christian School in Dallas, TX. Together they wrote and published Hosanna, Loud Hosannas a student hymnal that is widely used in churches, Christian schools, and homes.
