Hour 2: The Abortion Pill

Tessa Longbons with the Charlotte Lozier Institute will help us understand the latest ruling on chemical abortions. Tessa Longbons is Senior Research Associate at Charlotte Lozier Institute, where her research focuses on abortion statistics at the state and national levels and the changing landscape of abortion policy, provision, and access in the United States.

Also this hour, Sandy Silverthorne will give us insight into his book Kids Big Questions for God.  Sandy Silverthorne has been writing and illustrating books since 1988 and currently has over 500,000 copies in print. His award-winning Great Bible Adventure children’s series with Harvest House has sold over 170,000 copies and has been distributed in eight languages worldwide. He’s written and illustrated over thirty books and has worked with such diverse clients as Universal Studios, Doubleday Publishers, Zondervan, Penguin, The Charlotte Hornets and The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Sandy has a kid-friendly off-the-wall style that appeals to children and adults alike. He loves writing and speaking to kids, ice cream, hamburgers, and drawing. He avoids broccoli, committees, and getting up early.

Hour 3: Why Bad Looks Good

As a prosecuting attorney, Dr. Wendy L. Patrick has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. God's word is true and the direction it provides is a game-changer if we will follow it. Dr. Patrick will discuss her book Why Bad Looks Good: Biblical Wisdom to Make Smart Choices in Life, Love, and Friendship. 

Dr. Patrick owns Black Swan Verdicts, a full-service publicity and consulting business. She also speaks, publishes, and provides training on all of the same topics on which she is available to consult. Dr. Patrick is available to serve as a consultant and expert witness in threat assessment and more.

Dr. Patrick is a career trial attorney and has completed over 165 trials ranging from hate crimes to domestic violence, to first-degree murder. In the Special Operations Division of the San Diego District Attorneys Office, she handled cases involving sensitive issues including misconduct of public officials, the enforcement of gun laws, and a heavy load of threat assessment and management cases. In the Sex Crimes and Human Trafficking Division, Dr. Patrick prosecuted sexually violent predators, human traffickers, stalkers, rapists, and child molesters. She served as Co-Chair of the statewide California District Attorneys Association Sexual Violent Predators Committee and Human Trafficking Committee. 

Dr. Patrick received a Ph.D. in Theology from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and a Master of Divinity degree summa cum laude from Bethel Seminary San Diego where she was awarded the Excellence in Preaching Award and the Zondervan Biblical Languages Award. She is ordained as a Christian minister through Converge Worldwide.  She received her law degree from California Western School of Law, and her bachelor’s degree in psychology with honors from the University of California Los Angeles. 

Dr. Patrick is published on a regular basis. She is also on the air daily, discussing many of the same subjects she consults on, with over 5,500 media appearances with major news outlets. Dr. Patrick has her own radio show on KCBQ called Today With Dr. Wendy, a biweekly radio tour on Fox News Radio.

Dr. Patrick has been a faculty member at San Diego State University for over a decade. She is also a course designer and Lead Instructor for the Law Enforcement & Public Safety Leadership Program at the University of San Diego Master of Science Program, a Professor of Theology, Law, and Culture for Veritas International University, and a course designer and criminal law instructor at Trinity International University Law School. 

On a personal note, Dr. Patrick holds a purple belt in Shorin-Ryu karate, is a concert violinist with the La Jolla Symphony, and plays the electric violin professionally with a rock band, performing both locally and in Hollywood.
