We've all done it: We've made ourselves rabbits, pirates changed our voices and watched rainbows come out of our opened mouths. But now, some people have become addicted to these filtered selfies, these highly edited, idealized versions of themselves. Plastic surgeons have reported numerous people asking for transforming surgeries producing impossible outcomes. This new development is called "Snapchat Dysmorphia." Danny Huerta, Focus on the Family's VP of Parenting and Youth will join Kelli and Steve, as they discuss the repercussions of these "perfection" camera apps.
Daniel Huerta is the vice president of the Parenting and Youth department at Focus on the Family. In this role, he oversees Focus’ initiatives that equip parents to disciple and mentor the next generation, so that they can thrive in Christ.
Huerta is a bilingual, licensed clinical social worker, and provides families with practical parenting advice. He specializes as a counselor and spokesperson in the treatment of ADHD, conflict resolution, self-esteem issues, anxiety and depression in children, adolescents and their families. He talks with kids about trauma, communication, media discernment, the brain and healthy sexuality.
