According to the Census Bureau, four out of five women will outlive their husbands and it’s especially tough for a widow who has little to no experience handling the family finances. Even in cases where the widow handled the finances, she’s likely to be engulfed in grief resulting in financial matters being placed on the back burner. On the next MoneyWise Live, hosts Rob West and Steve Moore welcome Miriam Neff and Valerie Neff Hogan who share spiritual and financial advice for widows. Miriam Neff is founder and president of Widow Connection and a former high school teacher and counselor. She is the author of eight books, including From One Widow to Another: Conversations on the New You and Women and Their Emotions. Her one minute feature, New Beginnings, is heard on over 1200 outlets. Miriam’s late husband, Bob, was the former vice president of Moody Radio.
Valerie Neff Hogan works with Widow Connection, Orchard Ministry Development and the Christian Law Association; she holds a law degree and is currently in the process of completing her Certified Financial Planner certification. Since 2000 Valerie has served at church leading groups and individuals toward good stewardship with Christian Financial Concepts, Crown Financial, then Financial Peace University. She loves to assist people overcome financial obstacles to get more freedom, be more generous and do more ministry. She is the daughter of Bob and Miriam Neff, is married to Mark Hogan and has three sons in college; Edward, Albert and Edmond.
Rob West serves as the President of Kingdom Advisors, an international community of financial professionals who deliver biblically wise financial advice. A 20-year veteran of live radio, Rob previously hosted a financial radio program with his father on Fort Lauderdale’s WAFG. After several years as a MoneyWise guest host, Rob took over for Howard Dayton in 2017. Rob and his wife, Julie, live in Marietta, Georgia, with their four children.
Steve Moore enjoyed a brief career in the music industry before trading in his drum sticks for a microphone. He worked in commercial and public radio, then joined Larry Burkett at Christian Financial Concepts, helping to grow the radio network to more than 1,200 stations. He started MoneyWise with Howard Dayton in 2011. Steve and his wife, Marcia, live in Gainesville, GA and have two grown children.
