What is God's favor?
Here's a definition from Pastor Brian Jones: "God's favor is His supernatural intervention to bring a blessing into your life."
The Bible is filled with this concept.
Jones goes on to highlight a few examples:
"Moses discovered that with God's favor he could successfully lead a ragtag group of slaves to bring the most powerful army in the world to its knees. Gideon knew that with God's favor he could successfully discern which path God wanted him to take in his life. Nehemiah asked for God's favor and was granted the opportunity to successfully lead the most significant building project in the nation of Israel's history despite severe opposition."
But let's not forget God's favor won't keep you from dealing with personal hardship. Daniel was shown God's favor but spent the rest of his life in exile in Babylon. Joseph experienced God's favor but had a rough childhood, was sold into slavery, falsely accused of sexual misconduct, and thrown into prison for years. But through it all the Bible tells us God was with Joseph and blessed all he put his hand to. He had the favor of God on his life BEFORE he was promoted to the #2 position in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh.
Follower of Jesus.. it's good and right to ask for God's favor on your life. But it's a daring prayer. Do you trust the Lord to choose what that favor will look like?
Has God given you favor in some way?
In some circumstance.
A golden opportunity.
Perhaps even favor wrapped in a package you never expected or wanted?
