So.. I was having lunch at a nice restaurant with a friend of mine a couple of days ago. I prayed over our meal before we ate.
A few minutes later imagine my surprise when a guy walks up and says.. "Excuse me. I was sitting at a table a ways down and noticed you guys were praying over your food. I think that's awesome. I'm a follower of Jesus too!"
We talked briefly about our shared faith.. and what a great conversation it was! As he said goodbye he added this:
"I want to buy you guys lunch. It's all on me!"
We didn't know what to say! "Thank you" was as far as we got when he replied "You're welcome!" and took off.
What a cool moment.
Not because we got a free lunch.. although our new friend's generosity was inspiring and we were grateful.
It was more than that.
He encouraged our desire to follow Jesus every day.
It reminded me that as we live our lives for Christ people are watching. Just following Him sincerely impacts lives!
Have you ever prayed over a meal in public and someone said something to you about it?
How important is it for us to pray in public.. not to be "seen".. but as a part of who we are as believers?
Maybe it's something other than praying in public that brought a brother or sister in Christ your way and they said something encouraging to you.
