“… in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18) NASB
The good.. the bad.. the ugly?
If it’s clearly God’s will.. I want to pursue this daily.
There’s power in thanksgiving.
Have you discovered that?
Sometimes it’s a “sacrifice of praise”:
"Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving..”
(Psalm 50:14) NASB
And because it’s a sacrifice.. it means we give something up.
We surrender to God our will, emotions, and the right to understand the situation.
Even though we don’t feel like giving thanks, we choose to trust God with this.
We let God know.. as well as others.. that we trust Him in the situation and with the situation.
As one author puts it:
Give thanks for the many good things you possess.
Give thanks for the difficult things God will bring to good.
Give thanks for the fact that things could be worse.
Give thanks for protecting us from the bad things we never saw.
Giving thanks releases our faith!
So.. what would you like to "give thanks in everything" for today?
