Join us for a full hour of thought-provoking conversation. We start some of the stories making headlines and pivot to a conversation on the uptick in violence against pregnancy help centers. We will talk with someone who has a close affiliation with a ministry in Washington, D.C. Then we turn our sites to issues of national security. You will hear about a radical group using extreme methods to defend the planet. We will also discuss China’s sharp nuclear buildup. Don’t miss this packed hour of radio.
Hour 2: Movies and Martyrs
We start the hour by diving into some of the stories making the news today. We then discuss how to pray specifically for the largest group of influencers in the world – those in the entertainment business. We finish the hour with a report on the Persecuted Church and how we can learn to persevere as they do. Get ready to lengthen your prayer list!!

Dr. Michael New
Michael New, Ph.D. is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science and Social Research at The Catholic University of America, as well as an Associate Scholar at the Charlotte Lozier Institute. Additionally, he is a Fellow with the Witherspoon Institute, Princeton, New Jersey. Dr. New has both a Ph.D. in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Statistics from Stanford University. He has served as a post-doctoral fellow at the Harvard-MIT data center and a lecturer at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. His articles have appeared in various peer-reviewed journals, three of which have examined the impact of state-level abortion legislation.
Bill Gertz
Bill Gertz is National Security Columnist for The Washington Times. He studied English literature at Washington College in Chestertown, Md., and journalism at George Washington University, Washington, DC. In March 2014, Bill was awarded the Reed Irvine Award for Investigative Journalism by Accuracy in Media. In September 1999, Bill was awarded the Western Journalism Center award for investigative journalism. The United States Business and Industrial Council awarded him the "Defender of the National Interest Award" in June 1998, and in 1997 he was recognized by The Washington Times for excellence in achievement. Bill is an expert on China, the CIA and U.S. Defense. He has lectured extensively on defense, national security, and media issues.
Karen Covell
As Founding Director of Hollywood Prayer Network, Karen speaks and teaches around the country on how people of faith can pray for the people in the entertainment industry. She is also a published co-author of two books: How to Talk About Jesus Without Freaking Out and The Day I Met God. Aside from her leadership at HPN, Karen is Co-Founder and Producer for JC Productions, an independent TV and music production company. She has had extensive experience producing TV specials, documentaries and children's programming. Karen is a member of the Producers Guild of America, a founding member of PREMISE, and a board member of the Biola University Entertainment Task Force. She is a graduate of USC with a BA in Producing.
Todd Nettleton
Todd Nettleton is director of media development for The Voice of the Martyrs, working with the media to tell the stories of persecuted Christians to people in the United States. In his role with VOM, he has met with Christians who face persecution in many countries, including Sudan, China, Egypt, Turkey, Vietnam, Pakistan, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar (Burma) and Azerbaijan.

When she is not behind her microphone, Janet is speaking across the country on issues impacting Christians. She has authored several books, including her latest, Buyer Beware: Finding Truth in the Marketplace of Ideas. Parshall and her husband, Craig, live in Virginia, and have four children and six grandchildren.
