As Open Doors USA President and CEO, Dr. David Curry advocates on behalf of those who are persecuted for their Christian faith. He provides leadership to Open Doors USA on its mission to strengthen and equip Christians living under extreme restrictions, while encouraging them to remain strong in their faith. Since assuming the role of CEO in August 2013, David has traveled extensively to the field to encourage those living under persecution and support the work of Open Doors. He appears frequently on Fox News and is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post.
Mariam Ibraheem is a Sudanese Christian who was imprisoned for her faith in December 2013 and later sentenced to death. She refused to recant her faith and was imprisoned along with her 9-month-old son. While in prison she discovered she was pregnant, and her sentence of torture and execution was postponed until after her daughter was born. Mariam’s story gained international attention, and many advocated for her release, which came about soon after her daughter’s birth. The family eventually moved to the United States. Mariam is the co-founder and director of global mobilization for TAF, a foundation that serves women and children impacted by domestic abuse and religious-motivated violence. She also serves on the board of directors for Anti-Trafficking International.
