Dr. Karen Swanson has been the Director of the Billy Graham Center Institute for Prison Ministries (IPM) at Wheaton College since 2005. As Director, she oversees the Charles W. Colson Scholarship Program and pursues the goals of the Institute for Prison Ministries through networks, collaboration, and strategic partnerships that provide leadership and training to those engaged in correctional ministries for the advancement of the gospel.
Karen is an author, conference workshop speaker, and has developed training curriculum. She holds an Ed.D. in Curriculum Leadership from Northern Illinois University and many certifications in rehabilitation programs. Karen co-founded the Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association and serves on the leadership team
Joseph Williams serves as Executive Director of the Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association. His passion for helping the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated and their families reach their God-given potential is born from his own personal battles. His story is told in his gripping memoir, Sheep in Wolves’ Clothing: When the Actions of a Christian Turn Criminal. Joseph is also the founder and CEO of New Creations Community Outreach (formerly Transition of Prisoners) and is the founder and president of the Christian Association for Prison Aftercare (CAPA) where his experience and knowledge have impacted organizational leaders and criminal justice professionals around the world. Joseph also serves on the national advisory board for the Billy Graham Center for Evangelism's Institute for Prison Ministry.
Chris Brooks is the Teaching Pastor of Woodside Bible Church, a multisite congregation across the metro-Detroit area. Chris served for 20 years as the Senior Pastor of Evangel Ministries, a thriving 1600-member church in the heart of Detroit. He also served as the campus dean of Moody Theological Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. A popular Detroit radio host since 2005, Chris is author of Kingdom Dreaming and Urban Apologetics. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Finance, completed his MA in Christian Apologetics at Biola University, and graduated from the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics. He is currently pursuing a DMin degree at Asbury Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Yodit, are the proud parents of Christopher, Zewditu, Cameron, Judah, and Sophia.
