Dr. Joe Stowell was president of Moody Bible Institute from 1987–2005 and later became president of Cornerstone University from 2008-2021. Author of several books, he has poured more than half a century into full-time ministry. He is global ambassador and special assistant to Moody President Dr. Mark Jobe and a board member of CURE Intl., ELIC, and International Aid.

Dr. Lisa Smith is program head and assistant professor of Elementary Education at Moody Bible Institute. Dr. Smith began teaching in 1995 at her childhood elementary school, later becoming founding lead teacher and high school director for a charter school. Active in her church, she has served in numerous ministries.

Dr. Nick Gatzke is senior pastor of Old North Church in Canfield, Ohio, and an adjunct professor of preaching at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He holds degrees from Moody Bible Institute (BA), Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (MDiv), and London School of Theology (PhD). His radio program Opening the Bible can be heard on WCRF Moody Radio Cleveland.

Seth Plascencia is a senior at Moody Bible Institute majoring in Biblical Preaching with an interdisciplinary in Pastoral Studies. He was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and came to know Christ as a young child. Seth grew up in the public school system, where he felt called to testify about the good news of Jesus to those around him. Now he is pursuing God’s calling to proclaim the gospel wherever God leads.

Moriah Lemire

Thursday Afternoon


Moriah Lemire is a senior at Moody Bible Institute and is pursuing a BA in Biblical Preaching. She grew up in western Wisconsin and is one of six sisters. Her love for God’s Word and hearing it preached started at an early age while taking sermon notes in church.

Chris Brooks

Chris Brooks is host of the Moody Radio program Equipped with Chris Brooks and author of two books. He is also the senior pastor of Woodside Bible Church, a multisite congregation in the Detroit area. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in Finance, completed his MA in Christian Apologetics at Biola University, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Dr. David L. Sutton is pastor of Bread of Life Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood and director of the Doctorate of Ministry in Biblical Preaching program at Moody Theological Seminary. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from Moody Bible Institute and a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry in Preaching from North Park Theological Seminary.

Josiah Jobe

Josiah Jobe is the lead pastor of New Life Community Church, a diverse multisite church featuring 27 locations in the Chicago area. Josiah graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a degree in Biblical Studies. He and his wife, Carolina, have one son with another on the way.

Dr. Mark Jobe is president of Moody Bible Institute, host of Moody Radio’s Bold Steps, and author of two books. He is also founding pastor of New Life Community Church with 27 Chicagoland locations. A 1984 graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Dr. Jobe has a master’s degree from Moody Theological Seminary and a doctorate in transformational leadership from Bakke Graduate University.
