Dr. Paul Nyquist opens the ReFocus Pastors Conference at Moody Bible Institute with a message on the devastating danger of pride. He looks at King Uzziah from 2 Chronicles 26 and gives some practical advice on how to finish well in ministry. Before he begins, Tim Stafford opens the session by leading the men in worship, and Micah Bournes shares a piece of spoken word poetry.
Dr. Paul Nyquist
Paul Nyquist is the ninth president of Moody Bible Institute. Nyquist came to Moody from Avant Ministries, where he also served as president. Before joining Avant, Nyquist served as senior pastor at First Federated Church in Des Moines, Iowa, and Evangelical Bible Church in Omaha, Neb. Nyquist received a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1981 and a Ph.D. in systematic theology in 1984. He and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for more than 30 years and have four children and two grandchildren.
Tim Stafford is pastor of Music Ministries at The Moody Church, where he has served for eleven years. He is also an adjunct faculty member in Moody Bible Institute's Music Department. Stafford received a B.M. from Moody Bible Institute and a M.M. in choral conducting from Northwestern University. As a vocalist, guitarist and conductor, he is committed to serving the local church by facilitating corporate worship that is God-directed, transformational and displays the unity of the Spirit.
Micah Bournes was raised in the hip hop culture of Long Beach, California. He received his B.A. in electronic media communications from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. During college, he began exploring various forms of creative writing, but is best known for his spoken word poetry. His rhythmic roots and theological training unite to birth a unique brand of creative truth-telling. For more information, visit Micah's website.
Bill has been with Moody Radio for over 31 years, filling the roles of announcer, engineer, morning show host, producer and script writer. He has also been an active freelance voice-over actor in Chicago and Atlanta. In addition to hosting Faith on Record, Bill is the co-host ofLiving a Legacy with Crawford Loritts. His hobbies include flying stunt and power kites and remote-control helicopters. Bill and his wife, Dee, have two adult children and a high school senior. They reside in west suburban Chicago.
