leaving the church. On today's Building Relationships with Dr. Gary
Chapman, a baby boomer and a millennial, a father and son get together
to talk about “The Post-Church Christian.” President of Moody Bible
Institute, Dr. Paul Nyquist, and his son, Pastor Carson Nyquist will
join us on today's program.
Dr. J. Paul Nyquist is the ninth president of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Prior to coming to Moody, Dr. Nyquist served as president and CEO of Avant Ministries from 2001 to 2009. He has also served as a senior pastor of two different churches and as an adjunct professor at Grace University in Omaha, Neb., and Phoenix Seminary in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dr. Nyquist studied at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and later received a Th.M. and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for 31 years and are the parents of four grown children, three of whom attended Moody Bible Institute
Carson Nyquist graduated from Moody Bible Institute in 2010 with a B.A. in Pastoral Studies. In 2012 he graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Biblical Studies. Currently he is the Associate Pastor at Madison Alliance Church in Wisconsin, while also pursuing creative projects as a professional photographer and storyteller

Dr. Gary Chapman is a well-known marriage counselor and director of marriage seminars. He has written more than 25 books including the #1 New York Times Best Seller, The Five Love Languages. Chapman's newest release, Things I Wish I'd Known Before We Got Married, has joined the rankings as well. Others include: Anger, The Family You’ve Always Wanted, The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted, Desperate Marriages, God Speaks Your Love Language, Parenting Your Adult Child, and Hope for the Separated. Dr. Chapman has over 35 years of experience in family counseling and
has served as the senior associate pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in
Winston-Salem, N.C. for more than 35 years.
Chapman is a graduate of Moody Bible Institute and holds B.A. and
M.A. degrees in anthropology from Wheaton College and Wake Forest
University, respectively. He has received M.R.E. and Ph.D. degrees from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and taken postgraduate work at
the University of North Carolina and Duke University. Chapman and his
wife, Karolyn, have been married for more than 45 years and reside in
